M.Pharm or Master of Pharmacy is a postgraduate degree, which covers the preparation, dispensing, and proper consumption of drugs. The course offers ample job opportunities in hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and nursing homes. M.Pharm graduates are much demanded in research operations in pharmaceutical industry. The research section usually involves in processes associated with the development of new drugs.

M.Pharm graduates are also preferred in production work in pharmaceutical industry and in pharmaceutical laboratories. The role of pharmacist in laboratories is to analyze the purity and strength of drugs manufactured. In addition to the job opportunities in India there exist many job options outside the country also.

Eligibility

A candidate who has passed the B.Pharm degree examination of Kerala University of Health Sciences or an examination equivalent thereto of any other university recognized by Kerala University of Health Sciences with not less than a total of 55% marks for the B.Pharm degree examination shall be eligible for admission to M.Pharm degree course. The candidate should have undergone B.Pharm degree course in an institution approved by AICTE and the PCI.

Selection Criteria:

Selection & Admission to Management Quota (except NRI seats) for M.Pharm course 2011-12 will be done through the centralized selection and admission process of the Kerala State Self-Financing B.Pharm Management Association (KSSBCMA). Prospectus and application forms can be obtained directly from the SIMS Office, Al Shifa Hospital Complex, Perintalmanna on payment of Rs.1,000/- or from our College of Pharmacy.

Duration:

The academic duration of M.Pharm course is two years (24 months). Only candidates who have registered for all subjects of M.Pharm Part-I examination shall be eligible for admission to M.Pharm Part-II course. The thesis of M.Pharm Part II is to be submitted on completion of 24 months.
