Research Policy


Scope

Al Shifa College of Pharmacy (ACP) is committed to develop and nurture a high-quality research and innovation ecosystem in its campus. Research Policy of ACP delineates the standard guidelines for pursuing research in an ethical, output-oriented, and safe manner. The policy intent to achieve the vision of the institute there by contribute to the nation building. The policy may apply to:

  • All the Faculty, who wish to pursue research.
  • All the Staff and students appointed as part of research projects.
  • All the Students who do research as part of their curriculum.

Monitoring

The research in ACP will be outlined and monitored by the scientific research committee (SRC), comprised of the head of the institute, appointed external, and internal members. Member secretory of the SRC is responsible to develop and implement policies, identify the niche areas of research, enforce ethical and fair research, handle research and innovation seed grants (RISG) for ACP. A research management committee (RMC), appointed by the head of the institute, comprising of postgraduate faculties, is responsible for the day-to-day research activities, monitor undergraduate and postgraduate research project area, ethical considerations, work progress, and organize various research-oriented events in ACP.


Seed Grant (RISG)

It is an initiative of SRC to foster the research and innovations in ACP. Applications of RISG grant will be opened every year and grants will be awarded as per RISG guidelines.


Code Of Conduct

  • All the rules and regulations of ACP will be effective to all research and innovation activities also.
  • Researchers must conduct their activities with high priority to health, safety and environmental protection.
  • All members of the college (including students, faculty and staff) share responsibility for safety, and shall comply with established governmental environmental health and safety policies norms and procedures.
  • Ethical conduct of the research is one the prime mottos of ACP. Due permissions from Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) or Institutional Human Ethics Committee wherever applicable.
  • All researchers must demonstrate integrity and professionalism, fairness and equity, and intellectual honesty.
  • Any activity to defame the reputation of ACP in research-related activities will be dealt seriously.
  • Legal issues related to copyright, patent and publication are the sole responsibility of the researchers.
  • Be responsible for promoting academic integrity of the college.

Publications/ Intellectual Property Rights

  • Researchers are highly encouraged to publish their research outcomes in peer reviewed reputed journals or submit it for patent or copyright.
  • All the publications must be genuine and are open to scrutiny and debate.
  • Research must avoid publication in predatory / dubious journals or participate in publishing with these types of journals.
  • All the researches must use the ACP affiliation appropriately. All the research works done in ACP must be published with ACP’s affiliation as first affiliation. The ACP affiliation should be given as follows; Department of Xxxxxxx, Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Kizhattur, Poonthavanam post, Perinthalmanna, Kerala 679325.
  • For research papers published under various scheme of UGC/ DBT/DST, the author’s need to mention name of funding agency in the Acknowledgment section. For the SEED grants, acknowledgement must be given to Research and Innovation Grant Scheme (RISG), Al Shifa College of Pharmacy.
  • Publication or IPR assistance will be sanctioned only after proper scrutiny as mentioned in the publication assistance Scheme of ACP.
  • Any publications in predatory/dubious journals or presentations in predatory / dubious conferences should not be considered for academic for performance appraisal, increment and promotion.
  • External collaborators can be part of the authors but need to be permitted by the RMC as per publication assistance scheme.
  • Ghost authors are strictly prohibited in publications.

Research Incentives And Awards

ACP is committed to recognize and reward the effort of its staff members in research and innovation. In order to recognize the research efforts, best publication awards, research contribution awards, and other research incentives will be announced on the annual Research Day based on the research output and recommendations of SRC.


Appeal

Head of the institution in consultation with Scientific Research committee shall be the appellate authority for all the disputes related to research policy of ACP.
