Ms. Afnan K V holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Calicut (2014) and a Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics from Kerala University of Health Sciences (2016). She is currently pursuing her Part-time Ph.D. program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai. With 8 years of teaching experience, she has a strong academic and research background in Pharmaceutics and allied areas, with particular focus on nanomedicine, regulatory affairs, and computer-aided approaches to drug design and development. She has guided several postgraduate and undergraduate projects and undertaken consultancy work in pharmaceutical formulation and microbiology. She has also secured extramural grants, including support under the Research Promotion Scheme, for her project on Herbal nanosuspension of Ipomoea batatas leaf extract for supportive management of dengue. She has actively participated in over 90 national and international seminars, conferences, workshops, and faculty development programmes, contributing to her professional development.

AREA OF INTEREST: Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology, Nanomedicine and Novel Drug Delivery Systems, Cosmetic Science and Formulation Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Computer-Aided Drug Development.

Co-inventor in three published Indian patent applications, including:

  • In Situ Gel for Ocular Administration (2023)
  • Chitosan Nanoparticles Dry Powder Inhalations for Tuberculosis (2024)
  • Novel Design of Buccal Patches for Propranolol (2025)


Awards & Recognitions:

  • Secured a grant of ₹3,64,705/- from AICTE under the Research Promotion Scheme (2019).
  • Received ₹30,000/- grant from NAAC for organizing a national-level seminar on Quality Reinforcement and Best Practices in HEIs (2022).
  • Second Prize, E-Poster Presentation (A Novel Approach for the Delivery of Antibacterial Drug as Niosomal for Acute Bacterial Conjunctivitis), Pharmaceutics Category, 36th Annual Conference of IPGA (2024).
